Katie's Story

It has been 2 months since I first set this site up and at first things were a roller coaster of ups and downs. What first seemed like something that had no momentum and would quickly die out is slowly building steam and things are starting to look up.

This site was created to call attention to my family and some tough circumstances we have been caught up in over the last 5 years. There have been many situations that have compounded to leave me seriously overworked and us unable to pursue further care for Katie because we are strapped by other things that have just snowballed up.

At first I created this site asking for help and donations and the original site is still available at the topmost link of this page in the link for media relations. Since that time some other very large sites have come on board and offered to run the story or an abbreviated version on their own site to try and dig up help for us. If you do some research you will find that we look a lot like a normal family and that we have a house, 2 cars and 3 kids and all looks well. Unfortunately, I work 80 hours a week to pay for that and have for 3 years. At the end of 3 years we just aren't getting ahead and I know I cannot do this forever. My relationship with my wife and kids is suffering and Katie simply isn't getting the care she needs. In a conversation I just had less than a week ago with one of her physicians I was told, "You love her. You care deeply about her. You are going to have to buy the books, do the research and learn more about her condition, her needs and challenges. You'll then have to convince doctors of what you have learned and then you can move forward on treatment for her." I'm not a medical doctor at all and yet this is what is expected of me if I want to better Katie's life.

At this point I either have your attention and you want to learn more or I've lost you and you are ready to move on with other things. I'll cut to the chase now. Here are some links to parts of Katie's story and to some subsequent conversations that have taken place in various parts of the internet that might answer your questions about me, my family and my daughter. Thank you for your time and most especially thank you for any donations you have provided.

At this point and with other sites wanting to get involved I know I will have plenty of questions to field. So make sure to use the relevant sites and the resulting discussions to ask any questions or express any doubts you might have.
